On Thursday, January 28, MQ school had the pleasure of hosting The Little Company from Morehead State University. The college students performed the play, Some Assembly Required, for the students of Mary Queen. The story was about a young child who wanted the new Rad Rocket Robot for her birthday more than anything. The parents could not afford the toy, they instead offer a box of “parts” for a homemade robot. With the help of the child’s father and a science teacher who shows that “Science opens the door to an amazing wonderland of things that can be, will be, and mostly are,” the child discovers the possibilities that exist with a little imagination, creativity, and dedication.
The performance was specifically geared toward K-8, but it even captured the full attention of the three-year-olds at MQ. Following the performance, the MSU students provided an hour-long theatre workshop for the cast members of MQ’s upcoming performance of “Oz! The Musical” (more information to come on this performance). It was an exciting morning for all students involved and would
be a wonderful experience for any school.
